✧ 'If the wealth of Bahrayn comes, I would give you this and this and this.' He said: When the wealth of Bahrayn came after the death of the Messenger of God ﷺ, Abu Bakr said, 'Whoever has a debt or a promise owed to him by the Messenger of God ﷺ, let him come to us.' He said: So I came. He said: I said, 'The Messenger of God ﷺ said: If the wealth of Bahrayn comes, I will give you this and this—three times.' He said: 'Take.' He said: So I took—some of those who heard him said: I found it to be five hundred—so I took. Then I came to him, and he did not give me. Then I came to him, and he did not give me. Then I came to him the third time, and he did not give me. I said, 'Either you give me, or you are being stingy with me.' He said, 'Did you say: you are being stingy with me? What disease is worse than stinginess?! You have not asked me once except that I intended to give you.'
