  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationMālik b. Saʿīr narrated it from al-Ajlaḥ, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir, from ʿUmar, raised (marfūʿ) to the Prophet ﷺ, and Ibn Fuḍayl followed him on it from Ajlaḥ; Mūsā b. Isḥāq al-Qawwās said this on his authority. But the companions of Abū al-Zubayr narrated it from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir, from ʿUmar as his own saying, not raised (ghayr marfūʿ). Among them are Ayyūb, Ibn ʿAwn, Hishām b. Ḥassān, al-Awzāʿī, Ṣakhr b. Juwayriyah, Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah and al-Layth b. Saʿd. The halted (mawqūf) report is more sound than the connected-to-the-Prophet (musnad) one.

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) position is that it is halted (mawqūf) at ʿUmar.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThe halted (mawqūf) report is more sound than the musnad one.

machine translationHow few are those who narrate this hadith from Abū al-Zubayr as raised (marfūʿ); what is sound of it is only from the saying of ʿUmar.
