✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us out as three hundred riders, with Abu 'Ubaydah b. al-Jarrah as our commander, to lie in wait for a Quraysh caravan. We stayed on the coast for half a month and were struck by severe hunger until we ate khubat leaves. He said: So that army was called the Army of Khubat. Then the sea cast up for us a creature called al-'Anbar, and we ate from it for half a month until our bodies recovered, and we anointed ourselves with its fat. Abu 'Ubaydah took one of its ribs and looked for the tallest camel in the army, placed it on him, and it passed beneath it.
