✧ Abu Sa'id al-Khudri came to a man and said to him: 'Have you read what we have not read, and accompanied what we have not accompanied?' He said: 'I have not read except what you have read, and you have accompanied.' He said: 'Then on what basis do you give fatwas to the people: two dirhams for three, and a dirham for two dirhams?' Abu Sa'id said: 'I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: "Gold for gold, like for like; whatever is more is riba. Silver for silver, like for like; whatever is more is riba." He said: 'I heard him later say: "O God, I repent to You from what I used to give fatwas to the people regarding exchange."'
