✧ "People will pass over the bridge of Hell, upon which are thorns, hooks, and grapnels that snatch people right and left, and on its two sides are angels saying: 'O God, grant safety, grant safety.' Among the people are those who pass like lightning, some who pass like the wind, some who pass like a horse, some who run, some who walk, some who crawl on hands and knees, and some who drag themselves along. As for the people of the Fire, those who are its inhabitants, they will neither die nor live. As for some people, they will be seized for sins and errors, and they will burn and become charcoal. Then permission will be given for intercession, and they will be taken out in groups and thrown onto a river from the rivers of Paradise, and they will grow as a seed grows in the silt carried by a torrent." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Have you not seen the ṣabghā'? (A tree that grows in the flood debris?) Among the last to be brought out of the Fire will be a man on its edge, and he will say: 'O Lord, turn my face away from it.' He will say: 'Your covenant and your protection, that you will not ask Me for anything else?' He said: And on the path there are three trees. He will say: 'O Lord, transfer me to this tree so I may eat from its fruit and be in its shade.' He will say: 'Your covenant and your protection, that you will not ask Me for anything else?' He said: Then he will see another tree better than it, and he will say: 'O Lord, transfer me to this one so I may eat from its fruit and be in its shade.' He said: He will say: 'Your covenant and your protection, that you will not ask Me for anything else?' He said: Then he will see another tree, and he will say: 'O Lord, transfer me to this one so I may eat from its fruit and drink in its shade.' Then he will see the black mass of people and hear their speech, and he will say: 'O Lord, admit me to Paradise.'" Abu Naḍrah said: Abu Sa'id and a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ differed. One of them said: "He will admit him to Paradise and give him the world and the like of it." The other said: "He will enter Paradise and be given the world and ten times the like of it."
