Show the chain

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAl-Bukhārī mentioned it only in the passive, weakening form (ṣīghat al-tamrīḍ) because Abū Naḍrah is not on his criterion, due to a weakness in him. In my view this is not correct, because it does not follow from his not being on his criterion that he is unfit to be used as evidence according to him. Rather, he may be fit to be used as evidence according to him, and yet not be on the criterion of his Ṣaḥīḥ, which is the highest of the criteria of authenticity.
