The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) was sitting leaning upon something among them. We said to him: This white (man) who is leaning. The man said: O son of ‘Abd al-Muttalib. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said; I already responded to you. The man (again) said: O Muhammad. I am asking you. The narrator then narrated the rest of the tradition.

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationA hadith narrated by Ibn Abī Fudayk from al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. ʿUthmān from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Abū Hurayrah is an error (wahm). Rather, it was narrated by al-Layth from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Sharīk b. ʿAbdillāh b. Abī Namir from Anas from the Prophet ﷺ, and that is more likely correct.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThe correct version is what al-Layth b. Saʿd narrated from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Sharīk b. Abī Namir from Anas b. Mālik.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAl-Layth heard it from al-Maqburī, and it is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) from him.
