What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationThere is disagreement over this hadith from Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī: ʿAbd al-Wārith made it raised (marfūʿ) to the Prophet, from the narrations of Ibn ʿUmar, while Ismāʿīl made it halted (mawqūf) at ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him. Likewise Bakr b. Muḍar, from ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith, from Bukayr, from Nāfiʿ, narrated it halted (mawqūf) at ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him. The more likely view is that the hadith is both raised (marfūʿ) and halted (mawqūf), and ʿAbd al-Wārith is trustworthy (thiqah), whose addition is accepted.

machine translationIbn ʿUyaynah said, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, from ʿUmar, as his own statement, and this is the correct view. Likewise ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar al-ʿUmarī narrated it from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, from ʿUmar, halted (mawqūf).
