What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationHe declared it sound (ṣaḥḥaḥahu).

  • ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm al-Mudhirī

machine translationIn its chain is ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī Rawwād, whom al-Bukhārī cited as corroboration. Yaḥyā b. Maʿīn said: trustworthy (thiqah); he used to openly profess Irjāʾ. More than one scholar spoke against him. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned that he narrated from Nāfiʿ things which anyone whose craft is ḥadīth would not doubt, on hearing them, are fabricated (mawḍūʿ), and that he reported them out of delusion, not deliberately. And whoever narrates by guesswork and relates out of delusion until this becomes frequent from him, it is invalid to use him as proof.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

    machine translationAn authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThe statement of the one who said "from Nāfiʿ" is closer to being correct.
