The Prophet ﷺ said: There is jealousy which Allah loves and jealousy which Allah hates. That which Allah loves is jealousy regarding a matter of doubt, and that which Allah hates is jealousy regarding something which is not doubtful. There is pride which Allah hates and pride which Allah loves. That which Allah loves is a man's pride when fighting and when giving sadaqah and that which Allah hates is pride shown by oppression. The narrator Musa said: "by boasting."

machine translationYaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr narrates it, and there is disagreement about it. Ibn Abī ʿAdī and Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated from Ḥajjāj al-Ṣawwāf, from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, from Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, from Ibn Jābir b. ʿAtīk, from his father. Likewise said Abū al-Mughīrah and al-Firyābī from al-Awzāʿī, from Yaḥyā; and likewise said Abān al-ʿAṭṭār from Yaḥyā. Muḥammad b. Bashīr narrated it from Ḥajjāj al-Ṣawwāf, from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, from Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, from Ibn ʿAtīk, from his father, and he did not say "Ibn Jābir". Likewise said Ḥarb b. Shaddād from Yaḥyā; likewise said Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā al-Dhuhlī from al-Firyābī, from al-Awzāʿī; and likewise said Ibn al-Mubārak from al-Awzāʿī as well, except that Ibn al-Mubārak transmitted it as a mursal report and did not say in it "from his father". The saying of those who said "Ibn Jābir b. ʿAtīk" is closer to the correct view.
