machine translationAl-Tirmidhī transmitted from al-Bukhārī: Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal, Isḥāq b. Rāhawayh and al-Ḥumaydī used to take his hadith as evidence, that is, Ibn ʿAqīl's, and he is close in hadith (muqārib al-ḥadīth).

هذا حديث حسن ثم قال في آخره وعبد الله بن عقيل ضعيف فكيف يكون الحديث حسنا ومداره على ضعيف كما يزعم
machine translationThis is a good (ḥasan) hadith. Then at the end he said: "ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAqīl is weak (ḍaʿīf)." So how can the hadith be good when it revolves around a weak narrator, as he claims?
in سنن أبي داود, p. 131 - Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
