✧ Fasting on the Day of Ashura

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ قَالَ:
سَأَلْنَا قَيْسَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَكَاةِ الْفِطْرِ ؟ فَقَالَ: أَمَرَنَا بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْزِلَ الزَّكَاةُ، فَلَمَّا أُنْزِلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا، وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا
Translation
✧ We asked Qays b. Saʿd about the zakat al-fitr. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded it for us before the zakat was sent down. Then when the zakat was sent down, he did not command us or forbid us.
