Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ and Quraysh used to fast it in the pre-Islamic period. Then the Prophet ﷺ commanded it and fasted it when he came to Madinah, and commanded it be fasted, before Ramadan was made obligatory. Then when Ramadan was made obligatory, it was the obligatory fast. Aisha said: 'Whoever wished fasted it, and whoever wished left it.'
