✧ One Who Forgot the Prayer of Residence, and Combining Two Prayers While Traveling

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ قَالَ:
جَمَعَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً قَالَ: جَاءَهُ خَبَرٌ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّهَا وَجِعَةٌ، فَارْتَحَلَ بَعْدَ أَنْ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ، ثُمَّ أَسْرَعَ السَّيْرَ، فَسَارَ حَتَّى حَانَتْ صَلَاةُ الْمَغْرِبِ، فَكَلَّمَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ: الصَّلَاةَ، فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ كَلَّمَهُ آخَرُ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِ، وَكَلَّمَهُ آخَرُ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ كَلَّمَهُ آخَرُ، فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا اسْتَعْجَلَ أَخَّرَ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى يَجْمَعَ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ
Translation
✧ Ibn 'Umar combined the two prayers once. He said: News came to him about Safiyya bt. Abi 'Ubayd that she was ill, so he departed after praying the afternoon prayer, then hastened the journey. He traveled until the time for the sunset prayer came. A man from his companions spoke to him and said: 'The prayer,' but he did not respond to him. Then another spoke to him, but he did not respond to him. Then another spoke to him, but he did not respond to him at all. Then another spoke to him, and he said: 'I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ, when he was in a hurry, delay this prayer until he combined the two prayers.'
