عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ يَقُولُ:
مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ يُخَافِتُ، وَمَرَّ بِعُمَرَ وَهُوَ يَجْهَرُ، وَمَرَّ بِبِلَالٍ وَهُوَ يَخْلِطُ، فَأَصْبَحُوا جَمِيعًا عِنْدَهُ فَقَالَ: " مَرَرْتُ بِكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَرَأَيْتُ تُخَافِتُ " قَالَ: أَجَلْ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي قَالَ: " ارْفَعْ شَيْئًا " قَالَ: " مَرَرْتُ بِكَ يَا عُمَرُ وَأَنْتَ تَجْهَرُ " قَالَ: بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي أُسْمِعُ الرَّحْمَنَ، وَأُوقِظُ النَّائِمَ قَالَ: " دُونَ - أَوْ قَالَ: - اخْفِضْ شَيْئًا " قَالَ: " وَمَرَرْتُ بِكَ يَا بِلَالُ وَأَنْتَ تَخْلِطُ " قَالَ: أَجَلْ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي، أَخْلِطُ الطِّيِّبَ بِالطِّيِّبِ قَالَ: " اقْرَأْ كُلَّ سُورَةٍ عَلَى نَحْوِهَا
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by Abū Bakr while he was praying quietly, and he passed by ʿUmar while he was reciting aloud, and he passed by Bilāl while he was mixing. They all came to him in the morning, and he said: “I passed by you, O Abū Bakr, and saw you reciting quietly.” He said: Yes, may my father and mother be your ransom. He said: “Raise it a little.” He said: “I passed by you, O ʿUmar, while you were reciting aloud.” He said: May my father and mother be your ransom; I make the Merciful hear and wake the sleeper. He said: “Less—or he said—lower it a little.” He said: “And I passed by you, O Bilāl, while you were mixing.” He said: Yes, may my father and mother be your ransom; I mix the good with the good. He said: “Recite each surah in its proper way.”
