✧ The rulers who delay the prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَمَا مَا يُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَهَا مُفَرِّطًا فِيهَا ؟ قَالَ: " صَلِّ مَعَهُ الْجَمَاعَةَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ، قُلْتُ: فَمَا لَكَ أَلَا تَنْتَهِي إِلَى قَوْلِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فِي ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ: " الْجَمَاعَةُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ إِذَا لَمْ تَفُتْ "، قُلْتُ: وَإِنِ اصْفَرَّتِ الشَّمْسُ لِلْغُرُوبِ وَلَحِقَتْ بِرُءُوسِ الْجِبَالِ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، مَا لَمْ تَغِبْ
Translation
✧ I said to 'Ata': What about one who delays the prayer until he prays it negligently? He said: "Praying the congregation with him is more beloved to me." I said: Why do you not stop at the statement of Ibn Mas'ud regarding that? He said: "The congregation is more beloved to me as long as it is not missed." I said: Even if the sun turns yellow for setting and reaches the tops of the mountains? He said: "Yes, as long as it has not set."
