✧ The imam's shortening of the prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هَارُونَ الْعَبْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ:
صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ فَقَرَأَ سُورَتَيْنِ مِنْ أَقْصَرِ سُوَرِ الْمُفَصَّلِ، فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ بُكَاءَ صَبِيٍّ فِي مُؤَخَّرِ الصُّفُوفِ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تَفْرُغَ إِلَيْهِ أُمُّهُ
Translation
✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ led us in the dawn prayer and recited two of the shortest surahs of the mufassal. That was mentioned to him, and he said: "I heard a child crying at the back of the rows, and I wanted his mother to be free to go to him."
