✧ The imam's shortening of the prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ:
إِنِّي لَأُخَفِّفُ الصَّلَاةَ إِذْ أَسْمَعُ بُكَاءَ الصَّبِيِّ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ تَفْتَتِنَ أُمُّهُ
Translation
✧ I do lighten the prayer when I hear the crying of a child, fearing that his mother might be distracted.
