عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يَقُولُ:
جَاءَتْ شِفَاءُ إِحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عُمَرَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ: مَا لِي لَا أَرَى أَبَا حَثْمَةَ لِزَوْجِهَا شَهِدَ الصُّبْحَ ؟ وَهُوَ أَحَدُ رِجَالِ بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَتْ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ دَأَبَ لَيْلَتَهُ فَكَسِلَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ فَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ رَقَدَ ؟ فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ لَوْ شَهِدَهَا لَكَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ دُؤُوبَةِ لَيْلَتِهِ
Translation
✧ Shifa, one of the women of Banu Adi b. Ka'b, came to Umar during Ramadan and he said: "Why do I not see Abu Huthmah — meaning her husband — attending the morning prayer, when he is one of the men of Banu Adi b. Ka'b?" She said: "O Commander of the Faithful, he strove through the night (in worship), then grew too tired to go out, so he prayed the morning prayer (at home), then slept." He said: "By Allah, had he attended it (in congregation), it would be dearer to me than his striving through the night."
