عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ:
خَرَجَ عُثْمَانُ إِلَى الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ فَوَجَدَ النَّاسَ قَلِيلًا، فَاضْطَجَعَ قَلِيلًا فِي مُؤَخَّرِ الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى كَثُرَ النَّاسُ قَالَ: فَاضْطَجَعْتُ، فَسَأَلَنِي: مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، ثُمَّ سَأَلَنِي: مَا مَعِي مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ؟ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ: أَمَا إِنَّهُ مَنْ شَهِدَ الْعَتَمَةَ، فَكَأَنَّمَا قَامَ نِصْفَ لَيْلَةٍ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَ الصُّبْحَ، فَكَأَنَّمَا قَامَ لَيْلَةً
Translation
✧ 'Uthman went out for the later 'Isha' prayer and found the people few, so he lay down for a while at the back of the mosque until the people became numerous. He said: So I lay down, and he asked me: 'Who are you?' I told him. Then he asked me: 'How much of the Qur'an do you have with you?' I told him. 'Uthman said: 'Indeed, whoever attends the 'Isha' prayer, it is as if he stood half the night, and whoever attends the Fajr prayer, it is as if he stood the whole night.'
