machine translationAbū ʿĪsā said: On this topic there are also narrations from Ibn ʿUmar and ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr. Abū ʿĪsā said: The ḥadīth of ʿAlī is a good (ḥasan) ḥadīth. Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm preferred that no separation be made in the four [rakʿahs] before ʿAṣr, and he used this ḥadīth as evidence. Isḥāq said: The meaning of "he would separate between them with the salutation" is the tashahhud. Al-Shāfiʿī and Aḥmad held that the night and day prayers are two [rakʿahs] by two, and they preferred separation in the four [rakʿahs] before ʿAṣr.
