The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The prayer of a menstruating woman is not accepted unless she wears a head covering."

Notes

  • He said: There are also reports on this topic from Abdullah b. Amr. His phrase "the menstruating woman" means an adult woman, that is, one who has begun menstruating. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Aishah is a hasan hadith. The scholars act upon it: if a woman has reached puberty and prays while some of her hair is uncovered, her prayer is not valid. This is the view of al-Shafii. He said: A woman's prayer is not valid while any part of her body is uncovered. al-Shafii said: It has also been said that if the tops of her feet are uncovered, her prayer is valid.
