  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationA group narrated it, among them Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, al-Thawrī, Abū Bakr al-Nahshalī and others. They said: from Muḥammad b. al-Zubayr, from his father, from ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn, and they did not mention the hearing (samāʿ) as Jarīr b. Ḥāzim mentioned it. ʿAbd al-Wārith narrated it from Muḥammad b. al-Zubayr, from his father, from the one who heard ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn, from the Prophet ﷺ. My father said: The ḥadīth of ʿAbd al-Wārith is more likely [to be correct], because it made clear the defect ('awrah) of the ḥadīth.

machine translationThe narrators who reported this from Muḥammad b. al-Zubayr were inconsistent (iḍṭaraba) about it: some of them said, "from his father, from ʿImrān," and some of them said, "from al-Ḥasan, from ʿImrān." Muḥammad b. al-Zubayr al-Ḥanẓalī has hadiths other than the one I mentioned, but his hadiths are few, and what he narrates consists of strange reports (gharāʾib) and solitary narrations (afrād).

    in مسند الطيالسي, p. 880
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationMuḥammad is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī), and there is disagreement about him concerning it.
