✧ I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ on the Day of the Trench digging with us, until I saw the dust covering the whiteness of his belly—or he said: his hair—while he said: By God, were it not for God we would not have been guided, nor given charity, nor prayed. So send down tranquility upon us and make firm the feet when we meet. Shu'ba said in his hadith: My memory: the first ones have transgressed against us, and in the sheet: the chiefs have transgressed against us; when they desire a trial, we refuse. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ would say: "We refuse, we refuse," raising his voice with it.
