✧ Talk would reach me from Abu Dharr, and I used to desire to meet him, so I met him and said: O Abu Dharr, talk used to reach me from you, and I used to desire to meet you. He said: May your father be devoted to God! You have indeed met me, so ask. I said: It has reached me that you relate that the Messenger of God ﷺ told you that God, Mighty and Majestic, loves three and hates three. He said: I do not think I would lie about my close friend. I said: Who are the three whom He loves? He said: A man who meets the enemy and fights, and you will indeed find that in the Book you have: God loves those who fight in His way in ranks. I said: And who? He said: A man who has a bad neighbor who harms him, and he bears his harm patiently, so God will suffice him against him through life or death. He said: And who? He said: A man who was with a group on a journey, and they stopped to rest at night, and sleep and drowsiness had weighed heavily upon them, so they laid down their heads and slept, while he got up, performed ablution, and prayed out of fear of God and desire for Him. I said: Who are the three whom God hates? He said: The miserly who reminds others of his favors, and the arrogant boaster, and you will indeed find in the Book of God: God does not love any arrogant boaster. He said: Who is the third? He said: The trader who swears much, or the seller who swears much.
