✧ We were sitting in the mosque of the Messenger of God ﷺ when some people came praising 'Uthman and extolling him, while al-Miqdad was in a corner of the mosque. When he heard them praising him, he stood up, took some pebbles, and began throwing them at their faces. 'Uthman said: What is this? He said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: When you see the flatterers, throw dust in their faces—or he said: in their mouths—or he said: pebbles.
