✧ Salama b. Yazid stood up to the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was giving a sermon after the afternoon prayer, and said: 'What do you think if there are rulers over us after you who demand our rights and deny us ours?' He remained silent. Then he repeated the question, and it was as if he became angry, and remained silent. Al-Ashʿath pulled him and said: 'By God, I will keep asking him until the sun sets or he answers me!' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Upon them is what they are charged with, and upon you is what you are charged with. Hear and obey them.'
