حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنَ وَائِلٍ الْحَضْرَمِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ
أَنَّ سُوَيْدَ بْنَ طَارِقٍ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ لَنَا أَعْنَابًا نَعْتَصِرُهَا - فَذَكَرَ الْخَمْرَ فَنَهَاهُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّهَا دَوَاءٌ ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: بَلْ هِيَ دَاءٌ

✧ Suwayd b. Tariq asked the Prophet ﷺ, saying: 'O Messenger of God, we have grapes that we press' — and he mentioned wine, so he forbade him. He said: 'It is a remedy!' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Rather, it is a disease.'
