حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ
حُذَيْفَةُ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ قَوْمٌ عُكُوفٌ بَيْنَ دَارِكَ وَدَارِ أَبِي مُوسَى أَلَا تَنْهَاهُمْ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ «فَلَعَلَّهُمْ أَصَابُوا وَأَخْطَأْتَ وَحَفِظُوا وَنَسِيتَ» فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ لَا اعْتِكَافَ إِلَّا فِي هَذِهِ الْمَسَاجِدِ الثَّلَاثَةِ مَسْجِدِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَمَسْجِدِ مَكَّةَ وَمَسْجِدِ إِيلِيَا

✧ Ḥudhayfah said to ʿAbd Allah: There are people observing iʿtikāf between your house and the house of Abū Mūsā. Will you not forbid them? ʿAbd Allah said to him: «Perhaps they are right and you are wrong, and they have remembered while you have forgotten.» Ḥudhayfah said: There is no iʿtikāf except in these three mosques: the Mosque of Madinah, the Mosque of Makkah, and the Mosque of Iliya.
