حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ مَيْمُونٍ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ لَقِيَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ أَعْرَابِيٌّ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ
السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَضَحِكَ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ السَّلَامُ عَلَى الْمَعْرِفَةِ وَإِنَّ هَذَا عَرَفَنِي مِنْ بَيْنِكُمْ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيَّ وَحَتَّى تُتَّخَذَ الْمَسَاجِدُ طُرُقًا فَلَا يُسْجَدُ لِلَّهِ فِيهَا وَحَتَّى يَبْعَثَ الْغُلَامُ الشَّيْخَ بَرِيدًا بَيْنَ الْأُفُقَيْنِ وَحَتَّى يَبْلُغَ التَّاجِرُ بَيْنَ الْأُفُقَيْنِ فَلَا يَجِدُ رِبْحًا»

✧ “Peace be upon you, O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān.” He laughed and said: “Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘The Hour will not come until greeting is only upon acquaintance; indeed this man recognized me from among you and greeted me, and until mosques are taken as thoroughfares so that no prostration is made to Allah in them, and until a young boy sends an old man as a messenger between the two horizons, and until a merchant travels between the two horizons and finds no profit.’”
