حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْمُعَافَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي تَمْلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

أَدْرَكْتُ أَبَا جَهْلٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ صَرِيعًا فَقُلْتُ أَيْ عَدُوَّ اللهِ قَدْ أَخْزَاكَ اللهُ قَالَ وَبِمَا أَخْزَانِي اللهُ مِنْ رَجُلٍ قَتَلْتُمُوهُ وَمَعِي سَيْفٌ لِي فَجَعَلْتُ أَضْرِبُهُ وَلَا يَحِيكُ فِيهِ وَمَعَهُ سَيْفٌ لَهُ جَيِّدٌ فَضَرَبْتُ يَدَهُ فَوَقَعَ السَّيْفُ مِنْ يَدِهِ فَأَخَذْتُهُ ثُمَّ كَشَفْتُ الْمِغْفَرَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ فَضَرَبْتُ عُنُقَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ «اللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ قَالَ «انْطَلِقْ فَاسْتَثْبَتْ» فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَأَنَا أَسْعَى مِثْلَ الطَّائِرِ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ وَأَنَا أَسْعَى مِثْلَ الطَّائِرِ أَضْحَكُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَانْطَلِقْ فَأَرِنِي» فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَأَرَيْتُهُ فَلَمَّا وَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «هَذَا فِرْعَوْنُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ» هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ وَتَابَعَهُ أَبُو وَكِيعٍ

✧ I came upon Abu Jahl at the Battle of Badr lying slain, and I said, “O enemy of God, God has disgraced you.” He said, “And how has God disgraced me by a man whom you killed while I had my sword with me?” I began striking him with my sword but it would not cut him, while he had a good sword of his own. Then I struck his hand, and the sword fell from his grip, so I took it. Then I uncovered the helmet from his head and struck his neck. After that I went to the Messenger of God ﷺ and told him, and he said, “By God, besides whom there is no god?” I said, “By God, besides whom there is no god.” He said, “Go and verify.” So I went, hastening like a bird, then returned, hastening like a bird, laughing, and told him. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Then go and show me.” So I went with him and showed him. When the Messenger of God ﷺ stood over him, he said, “This is the Pharaoh of this nation.” Thus it was narrated by Zayd b. Abi Unaysa from Abu Ishaq from ʿAmr b. Maymun, and Abu Wakiʿ concurred with him.
