حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِرَأْسِ أَبِي جَهْلٍ فَقُلْتُ هَذَا رَأْسُ أَبِي جَهْلٍ قَالَ «اللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ؟» وَهَكَذَا كَانَتْ يَمِينُهُ فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ إِنَّ هَذَا رَأْسُ أَبِي جَهْلٍ فَقَالَ «هَذَا فِرْعَوْنُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ»

✧ I brought the head of Abu Jahl to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “This is the head of Abu Jahl.” He said, “By God, besides whom there is no god?”—and this was how he used to swear—so I said, “By God, besides whom there is no god, this is indeed the head of Abu Jahl.” He then said, “This is the Pharaoh of this nation.”
