حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُلَاثَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَالَ قَالَ

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ بَعَثَنِي إِلَى ثَقِيفٍ «تَجَوَّزْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ يَا عُثْمَانُ وَاقْدِرِ النَّاسَ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ وَالْحَامِلَ وَالْمُرْضِعَ إِنِّي لَأَسْمَعُ بُكَاءَ الصَّبِيِّ فَأَتَجَوَّزُ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me when he sent me to Thaqif: “Be moderate in prayer, O Uthman, and measure the people by the weakest among them, for among them are the weak, the one with a need, the pregnant, and the nursing. Indeed I hear the cry of a child and I shorten (the prayer).”
