✧ While the Messenger of God ﷺ was sitting in the courtyard of his house in Makkah, Uthman b. Maz'un passed by and smiled at the Messenger of God ﷺ. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him, "Will you not sit?" He said, "Yes." So the Messenger of God ﷺ sat facing him. While he was speaking with him, the Messenger of God ﷺ raised his gaze to the sky and looked at it for a while. Then he began to lower his gaze to where he placed it on his right, on the ground. The Messenger of God ﷺ turned from his companion Uthman to where he placed his gaze, and he began to nod his head as if trying to understand what was being said to him, while Ibn Maz'un was looking. When he finished his matter and understood it, he said, "The Messenger of God ﷺ raised his gaze until it disappeared into the sky, then returned to Uthman with his former sitting position." He said, "O Muhammad, what was I sitting with you about? I have never seen you do what you did this morning." He said, "Did you notice that?" Uthman said, "Yes." The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "A messenger of God came to me while you were sitting." He said, "A messenger of God?" He said, "Yes." He said, "What did he say to you?" He said, "{Indeed God commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, wrongdoing, and oppression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.}" Uthman said, "That was when faith settled in my heart and I loved Muhammad ﷺ."
