✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his wives, "Do not make this boy cry," meaning Husayn. He said, "It was the day of Umm Salamah, so Jibril ﷺ descended and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the inner chamber and said to Umm Salamah, 'Do not let anyone enter upon me.' Husayn ؓ came, and when he saw the Prophet ﷺ in the house, he wanted to enter, so Umm Salamah took him and held him in her lap, and began to soothe him and calm him. When he intensified in crying, she let him go, so he entered until he sat in the lap of the Prophet ﷺ. Jibril ﷺ said, 'Your nation will kill this son of yours.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'They will kill him while they are believers in me?' He said, 'Yes, they will kill him.' Then Jibril took some soil and said, 'At such and such a place.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out, embracing Husayn, distressed and troubled, so Umm Salamah thought that he was angry at the boy's entering upon him. She said, 'O Prophet of Allah, may I be your ransom, you told us not to make this boy cry, and you commanded me not to let anyone enter upon you, but he came, so I let him go.' He did not answer her. He went out to his companions while they were sitting and said to them, 'My nation will kill this one.' Among the people were Abu Bakr and Umar ؓ, and they were the boldest of the people toward him, so they said, 'O Prophet of Allah, they will kill him while they are believers?' He said, 'Yes, and this is his soil,' and he showed it to them."
