al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 7882

✧ I asked: "O Prophet of Allah, how many are the number of prophets?" He replied: "One hundred and twenty-four thousand, among them are three hundred and fifteen messenger groups.

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاتِكَةِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ عَمْرَو بْنَ الطُّفَيْلِ إِلَى خَيْبَرَ لِيَسْتَمِدَّ لَهُ قَوْمَهُ وَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرُو انْطَلِقْ فَاسْتَمِدَّ لَنَا قَوْمَكَ» فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرْسَلْتَنِي وَقَدْ نَشَبَ الْقِتَالُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ رَسُولَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent ‘Amr b. al-Tufayl to Khaybar to seek reinforcements for him from his people, and said: “O ‘Amr, go and seek reinforcements for us from your people.” ‘Amr said: “O Messenger of Allah, you have sent me while the fighting has broken out.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Are you not pleased to be the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?”
