✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ stood one day and began the prayer, then he saw phlegm in the direction of the qiblah. He removed his sandal, walked to it, and scraped it off. He did that three times. When he finished his prayer, he faced the people, praised God and extolled Him, then said: “O people, when one of you stands in prayer, he is in a great station before a great Lord, asking for a great matter: success in Paradise and salvation from the Fire. And when one of you stands in prayer, he stands before God facing his Lord, with his angel on his right and his companion on his left. Let none of you spit in front of him or to his right, but rather to his left under his left foot. Then let him rub it, and let him rub it hard, for he is only rubbing the ear of Satan. By the One who sent me with the truth, if the veils between you and him were removed or permission were given to speak, he would complain of what he encounters from that.”
