حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْمُلَائِيُّ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ فَقُمْتُ عَلَى بَابِهِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ

مَا جَاءَ بِكَ؟ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّكَ امْرُؤٌ قَدْ صَحِبْتَ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِي الْمَسْحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ بَعْدَ الْغَائِطِ وَالْبَوْلِ فَهَلْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَذْكُرُ فِي ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا؟ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُنَا إِذَا كُنَّا مُسَافِرِينَ أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ نَوْمٍ

✧ What has brought you? I said: You are a man who accompanied the Prophet of God ﷺ, and the matter of wiping over the leather socks after defecation and urination has troubled my heart. Did you hear the Messenger of God ﷺ mention anything about that? He said: Yes. The Messenger of God ﷺ used to command us, when we were traveling, not to remove our leather socks for three days, but only for defecation, urination, or sleep.
