✧ What brought you? I said, 'Seeking knowledge.' He said, 'Shall I give you glad tidings?' I said, 'Yes.' He raised the hadith and said, 'The angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with what he seeks.' Then he asked him about wiping over the leather socks, and he said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The traveler wipes over the leather socks for three days and their nights on account of urine, defecation, or sleep, but not on account of major ritual impurity.' Then he began to narrate to us, saying, 'While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, a Bedouin called him in a loud voice, "O Muhammad, O Muhammad, O Muhammad." I said, "Lower your voice, for you have been forbidden to raise your voice." The Prophet ﷺ answered him in a manner similar to what he heard from him and said, "Here I am." Then he asked him about love: a man who loves a people but has not yet joined them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A person is with the one he loves." Then he began to narrate to us and said, "The gate of repentance is open from the direction of the west, and its width is a journey of seventy years; it will not be closed until the sun rises from its direction." Then he recited this verse: {Do they wait except that the angels should come to them...} to the end of the verse.'
