✧ While the Messenger of God ﷺ was on a journey, a man came and said: 'O Muhammad.' They said: 'Lower your voice.' He said: 'O Messenger of God, a man loves a people but has not seen them.' He said: «A person is with those whom he loves.» Then he asked him about wiping over the leather socks, and he said: «Three days and their nights for the traveler, and a day and a night for the resident. He does not remove them for urine, sleep, or defecation, only for major impurity.» Then he asked him about repentance, and he said: «For repentance there is a gate in the west, a journey of seventy years—or forty years—that remains open until some of the signs of your Lord come: the sun's rising from its west.»
