al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 7333

✧ Safwan b. Umayyah b. Khalaf al-Jumahi, known as Abu Wahb, came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the day of the conquest of Mecca. He delayed him for four months and witnessed the Battle of Hunayn while he was still a polytheist. Then he embraced Islam after that and was martyred in the killing of Uthman.

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا وهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ثنا خَالِدٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ قَالَ

صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ رَآنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَجُزُّ اللَّحْمَ عَنِ الْعَظْمِ فَقَالَ «يَا صَفْوَانُ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ قَالَ «قَرِّبِ اللَّحْمَ مِنْ فِيكَ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ»

✧ Safwan b. Umayyah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me while I was cutting meat off the bone, so he said, “O Safwan.” I said, “At your service.” He said, “Bring the meat close to your mouth, for it is more pleasant and more wholesome.”
