حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا سَعْدُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ الْكَاتِبُ حَدَّثَنِي بِلَالُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْعَبْسِيُّ أَنْ شُتَيْرَ بْنَ شَكَلٍ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ شَكَلِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلِّمْنِي تَعْوِيذًا أَتَعَوَّذُ بِهِ؟ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي ثُمَّ قَالَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ سَمْعِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ بَصَرِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ لِسَانِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ قَلْبِي وَمِنْ مَنِيِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي «احْفَظْهَا» قَالَ سَعْدٌ وَالْمَنِيُّ مَاؤُهُ

✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, teach me a supplication for protection with which I may seek refuge. He took my hand and said: Say: I seek refuge in You from the evil of my self, from the evil of my hearing, from the evil of my sight, from the evil of my tongue, from the evil of my heart, and from my manī. Then he said to me: “Memorize it.” Saʿd said: Manī is his semen.
