حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ فِرَاسٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ «هَهُنَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ؟» فَنَادَى ثَلَاثًا لَا يُجِيبُهُ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَجُلًا أَجَابَهُ فَقَالَ «سَمِعْتَ نِدَائِي؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «إِنَّ فُلَانًا الَّذِي تُوُفِّيَ مِنْكُمْ قَدِ احْتَبَسَ عَنِ الْجَنَّةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ الدَّيْنِ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ فَافْدُوهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ فَأَسْلِمُوهُ إِلَى عَذَابِ اللهِ»

✧ One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Is there anyone here from Banu al-Najjar?” He called out three times and no one answered him. Then a man answered him, so he said, “Did you hear my call?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Indeed, so-and-so who died among you has been detained from Paradise because of the debt he owed. If you wish, ransom him, and if you wish, surrender him to the punishment of Allah.”
