✧ A man was brought to the Messenger of God ﷺ. They said, “O Messenger of God, this man stole a camel’s saddlecloth, or a riding animal’s saddlecloth.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “I do not think he did it.” Then they said, “O Messenger of God, this man stole.” He said, “I do not think he did it,” until he testified against himself several times. Then he said, “Take him and cut off his hand, then bring him to me.” So they cut off his hand, then brought him to the Messenger of God ﷺ, who said, “Woe to you, repent to God.” He said, “I repent to God.” He said, “O God, turn to him in mercy.”
