حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا زُهَيْرٌ ثنا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ حَتَّى النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَقَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ فَلْيَحِلَّ» قُلْنَا أَيُّ الْحِلِّ؟ قَالَ «الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ» فَأَتَيْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَلَبِسْنَا الثِّيَابَ وَمَسَسْنَا الطِّيبَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ وَكَفَانَا الطَّوَافُ الْأَوَّلُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَشْتَرِكَ فِي الْإِبِلِ وَالْبَقَرِ كُلُّ سَبْعَةٍ مِنَّا فِي بَدَنَةٍ فَجَاءَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَيِّنْ لَنَا دِينَنَا كَأَنَّنَا خُلِقْنَا الْآنَ؟ أَرَأَيْتَ عُمْرَتَنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا هَذَا؟ أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ «بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ»

✧ We set out with the Messenger of God ﷺ, proclaiming the talbiyah, even the women and children. When we arrived in Makkah, we circumambulated the House and went between al-Safa and al-Marwah. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said to us, "Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him should exit ihram." We said, What kind of exiting? He said, "Complete exiting." So we went to our wives, wore our clothes, and applied perfume. Then on the day of al-Tarwiyah, we entered ihram for hajj, and the first circumambulation between al-Safa and al-Marwah sufficed us. The Messenger of God ﷺ ordered us to share in camels and cattle: every seven of us in one budanah. Then Suraqah b. Malik came and said, O Messenger of God, explain to us our religion as though we were created just now. Do you think this umrah of ours is for this year of ours or forever? He said, "Rather, forever."
