حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ
ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الدِّيلِيِّ عَنِ ابْنٍ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَدِّهِ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابَ ؓ بَعَثَهُ مُصَدِّقًا فَكَانَ يَعُدُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِالسَّخْلِ فَقَالُوا تَعُدُّ عَلَيْنَا بِالسَّخْلِ وَلَا تَأْخُذُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا؟ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ عَلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ ذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ «نَعَمْ تَعُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالسَّخْلَةِ يَحْمِلُهَا الرَّاعِي وَلَا تَأْخُذْهَا وَلَا تَأْخُذِ الْأَكُولَةَ وَلَا الرُّبَّى وَلَا الْمَاخِضَ وَلَا فَحْلَ الْغَنَمِ وَتَأْخُذُ الْجَذَعَةَ وَالثَّنِيَّةَ وَذَلِكَ عَدْلٌ بَيْنَ غِذَاءِ الْمَالِ وَخِيَارِهِ»

✧ Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us from Malik from Thawr b. Zayd al-Dili from a son of 'Abd Allah b. Sufyan from his grandfather Sufyan b. 'Abd Allah that 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ sent him as a zakat collector. He used to count kids on the people, so they said, 'You count kids on us but do not take anything from them?' When he came to 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ and mentioned that to him, 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ said to him: 'Yes, count on them the kid that the shepherd carries, but do not take it, and do not take the one that is eaten, nor the one that has recently given birth and is kept for its young, nor the pregnant one, nor the ram of the flock. Take the jadha'ah and the thaniyyah, and that is a just balance between the young of the property and its best.'
