حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ
ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَاعِزٍ الْعَامِرِيِّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنِي بِأَمْرٍ أَعْتَصِمُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ «قُلْ رَبِّيَ اللهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ» قُلْتُ مَا أَكْثَرُ مَا تَخَافُ عَلَيَّ؟ فَأَخَذَ بِلِسَانِ نَفْسِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَذَا»

Hammad narrated to us; and Abu Khalifah al-Fadl b. al-Hubab narrated to us, Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi narrated to us; they said: Ibrahim b. Sa'd narrated to us from al-Zuhri from Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Ma'iz al-'Amiri from Sufyan b. 'Abd Allah al-Thaqafi who said: I said, 'O Messenger of God, tell me something I can hold fast to.' He said, 'Say: My Lord is God, then be steadfast.' I said, 'What do you fear most for me?' He took hold of his own tongue and then said, 'This.'
