حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ أنا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ الطَّحَّانَ الْوَاسِطِيَّ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ

طَلَبْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ فَجَلَسْتُ فَرَأَيْتُ رَهْطًا خَمْسَةً أَوْ سِتَّةً وَرَجُلٌ يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي جِرَاحَاتٍ كَانَتْ فَأَصْلَحَ بَيْنَهُمْ عَلَى غَنَمٍ فَلَمَّا قَامَ الْقَوْمُ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَلَمَّا سَمِعْتُ ذَلِكَ قُلْتُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَالَ لِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ «عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ تَحِيَّةُ الْمَوْتَى»

✧ I sought the Prophet ﷺ but did not find him. I sat down and saw a group of five or six men, and a man was reconciling between them regarding wounds that had occurred. He made peace between them on the basis of sheep. When the people stood up, a man said: O Messenger of Allah. When I heard that, I said: Upon you be peace, O Messenger of Allah, three times. He said to me three times: "Upon you be peace is the greeting of the dead."
