✧ We raided with the Messenger of God ﷺ the Hawazin. While we were seated taking our mid-morning meal, a man came on a red camel. He pulled out a strap from the camel’s hind girth and hobbled his camel with it. Then he came walking until he sat with us to eat. He looked at the faces of the people and saw that their condition was weak and most of them were on foot. When he looked at the faces of the people, he went out running until he reached his camel, sat on it, and rode off as a scout for the disbelievers. A man from us of Aslam followed him on a gray she-camel of his. I followed him running on foot and caught up with him, being at the side of the she-camel’s haunch. Then I moved forward until I took hold of the camel’s halter. I drew my sword and struck his head. Then I came leading his she-camel, on which was his spoils. The Messenger of God ﷺ met me with the people and said, “Who killed the man?” They said, “Ibn al-Akwa‘.” He said, “You shall have all his spoils.” The wording is that of the hadith of Abu al-Walid.
