حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ مَوْلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلِ بْنِ السِّمْطِ
أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيَّ وَهُوَ مُرَابِطٌ بِسَاحِلِ حِمْصٍ فَقَالَ مَا لَكَ عَلَى هَذَا؟ قَالَ مُرَابِطٌ قَالَ سَلْمَانُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ كَصِيَامِ شَهْرٍ وَقِيَامِهِ وَمَنْ مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا جَرَى عَلَيْهِ عَمَلُهُ الَّذِي كَانَ يَعْمَلُ وَأُومِنَ الْفَتَّانَ وَيُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شَهِيدًا»

✧ He saw Salman al-Farisi while he was a murābiṭ on the coast of Hims, and said: “What brings you to this?” He said: “I am a murābiṭ.” Salman said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: “Ribat for a day in the path of God is like fasting a month and standing in prayer during it, and whoever dies as a murābiṭ, his deeds that he used to do continue for him, he is safeguarded from the two tempters, and he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection as a martyr.”
